Stroke service update – Yeovil Hospital
The NHS in Somerset and Dorset is introducing improved stroke services designed to ensure patients can access specialist emergency hyper acute stroke care more quickly, 24/7.

From 9th September 2026, emergency stroke care will be provided through 24/7 Hyper Acute Stroke Units at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton, and Dorset County Hospital, Dorchester. Yeovil Hospital will continue to provide an Acute Stroke Unit and stroke rehabilitation services, with investment made in improved rehabilitation facilities, enabling patients to continue their recovery closer to home following their emergency treatment.
