ACT TO ADAPT PUBLIC WORKSHOP

The council is looking forward to engaging with residents at a public workshop event planned in partnership with Somerset Wildlife Trust and Three Villages Flood Group (3VFG) for end of January 2026.

This event is the first stage of a climate adaptation initiative that will work alongside the council’s biodiversity action plan (which can be found on the website).

Following the public workshop, Somerset Wildlife Trust will draft the plan and consult with the public at local events and community gatherings. The last stage of the initiative is the handover of the plan to the community together with a grant of £1,000 to initiate identified and recommended climate adaptation actions. Further details about existing plans can be found on Somerset Wildlife Trust’s website: https://www.somersetwildlife.org/act-to-adapt.

COMMUNITY ASSEMBLY, SURVEY AND PLAN

Another much anticipated event is a Community Assembly, the first stage of the community survey and plan, planned for late March. The council hopes the assembly will attract a wide range of participants who are currently underrepresented in existing local groups. The aim of the assembly is to encourage 50-60 parishioners to attend and share their views, concerns and participate in debates on a wide range of local topics in groups of 5-8 people. Every attendee will have the opportunity to be heard, and their views will be respected. The outcomes of the assembly will be used in designing a community survey to be carried out in the second quarter of 2026, for which the council received a grant of £5,000 from the Somerset Association of Local Councils. The survey will be accessible in both electronic and paper forms for every parishioner over the age of 16. The results of the survey and the assembly will form a community plan which will shape the aims and objectives of the council for the next few years.

The public workshop and community assembly will be hosted in Mudford Village Hall. The dates and times of the events will be shared on the parish council’s website and noticeboards. Please contact the clerk at clerk@mudford-pc.gov.uk with any questions.
